Riley
The White Mountain Independent,
Show Low, Arizona ~ November 16, 2007
Riley Lee of Show Low lost his life to cancer Nov. 8, 2007, in Lakeside.
He was born March 9, 1936, in Cibecue to the late Oscar and Molly (Lupe) Lee. From Cibecue he moved to Show Low where he made his home for the past 38 years. Riley did ranch handwork with a cattle association in the three districts of Cibecue, Grasshopper and Oakcreek. He also worked at Reidhead Lumber Company for 26 years.
Riley had a great love for God. He also loved sports, was talented and excelled athletically. He enjoyed basketball and rodeos the most. He loved being around horses and participated in roping events for as long as he was able to. Through decades of going to rodeos he had a very successful career with numerous winnings.
Riley also loved spending time with family. Listening to his radio, watching movies and his favorite sports teams, being outdoors, hunting and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and watching them in sporting events.
He is survived by his wife Pauline of 50 years; five sons, Tim, Jacob, Gerald, Matthew, Terrell and Mark; daughter Paulette; brothers Grant and Mosiah Lee, Larson, Jim and Knudson Chatlin; sisters Marie Henry and Ameda Haven; seven grandchildren.
Four sons, his parents and two of his brothers preceded him in death.
A one-night wake will start at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at Bentley Haven's residence on North Cromwell Road, House No. 404, north of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Cibecue.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 17, at 10 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Cibecue Branch Chapel.
Interment will be at the Red Mountain Ridge Cemetery.
In his last days Riley still talked of horses and rodeos, so in his honor there will be a horse escort to the wake and burial service. On Friday, Nov. 16, all riders will be meeting at the Cromwell and Cibecue Intersection Bridge when you first enter Cibecue.
On Saturday the horse escort will be after the funeral service from the church to the cemetery. Those riders who would like to show their respect for Riley are welcomed to participate both days.
Owens Mortuary of Show Low handled the arrangements.
