VICTOR, Dirk Edward


Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, Arizona Published Monday, July 14, 2008 Dirk Edward Victor, 89, passed away June 28, 2008, in Lake Havasu City. He was born Aug. 19, 1918, in Indonesia. Dirk was a prisoner of war in a Japanese prison camp from March of 1942 until August 15, 1945, when he was freed in Siam. He continued with his service in the Indonesian Army and was honorably discharged in November of 1950 with a special pension award related to his years of interment during the war. Dirk worked for McCulloch Corp. in Lake Havasu City until his retirement. He was proud to have become a naturalized citizen of the United States. Dirk played the organ at Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church in Lake Havasu City for many years. He was a kind and honorable person who had many friends and was known to have helped those in need. He will be remembered for his talented skill on the organ, his service during the 2nd World War, his faith, and his gentle and caring nature. Burial took place at Mountain View Cemetery in Kingman.
