Helen Margaret Brewer died an December 28, 2003, after a long struggle with cancer. She was born Helen Margaret Black in Flagstaff, Arizona, on March 14, 1932. Her parents. Edmond Arthur Black and Ethel Frances (Pirtle) Black, were pioneer settlers of Sedona, Arizona: young Helen grew up among the towering red cliffs and oak studded gorges of this area. She married her childhood neighbor and life long friend, Arlie Jack Brewer, Sr., June 11, 1950 in West Sedona. A busy homemaker and devoted mother, Helen was an expert gardener and an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon). After their children were grown, she and Jack served two missions for the Church, first in the Dominican Republic and the second at the Dallas Texas LDS Temple. Helen worked at the Arizona LDS Temple in Mesa and Family History Centers for many years in various capacities. Helen is survived by her husband, Jack, and children, Margaret Hereth (Lyle), Arlie (Lorena), Louie (Darci), Patty Salmond (Nyles), and Debra Maxwell (Bruce). Grandchildren: Christopher, Walter, Emilie, Jennifer, and Jacob Hereth; Derrick, Ed, Jaushua, Brandi, Daniel, and Jeremi Brewer; Robert, Lydia, Aubrey, Cami, Maggie, Katie, Charlet, and Jack Salmond; Elise, Amanda, Glenn, Shannon, and Ashley Maxwell. Great grandchildren: Audrey and Emma Hereth. Visitation will be at the Solomon Ward Building (located on Broadway and Solomon in Mesa) Friday Jan 2nd, followed immediately by the funeral.
