HUBBARD, Alvin Earl


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ October 18, 2007 Alvin Earl Hubbard died Sept. 26, 2007, in Truth of Consequences, N.M. He was born in Phoenix March 8, 1923, and was a longtime resident of Winslow where he attended school. He was a decorated World War II Veteran serving in the U.S. Navy. Alvin participated in the campaigns and invasions of North Africa, Sicily, Italy and France, earning two bronze stars for valor. Also, he received the Philippine Liberation Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Decoration. He worked for Santa Fe Railroad and was also a self-employed truck driver. He is survived by two nephews, James Deck of Phoenix and Frank Hubbard of Oregon City, Ore.; niece Dawna Lewis of Holbrook; and two great-nieces. Graveside services were held Monday, Oct. 1, at the Holbrook Cemetery. Owens Mortuary of Holbrook handled the arrangements.
