Audie Skidmore
In loving memory of Audie Skidmore.
He was born Oct. 10, 1927, in Forestdale. He began learning the cowboy ways of life. Ways of living were tough at times, but he always put his trust in God.
In 1948 he wanted to start a family of his own and married Nancy Lee Alchesay. They later had one son and one daughter, but since Audie had a loving heart he also raised and cared for others as well.
Audie was a cowboy, cement truck driver, tire repairman, handyman, mechanic, laborer and a carpenter. Audie was one of the few who enjoyed making woods, being with grandchildren, fixing cars, doing yard work and fixing fences.
Audie was a traditional man who loved his culture and knew where he came from. He was always willing to help others; he was a man who kept his word. Audie was always keeping himself busy, starting in the morning and ending in the evening.
He always kept a smile on his face, a cheer in his voice and a tease or joke on the side for the road. This was our husband, dad, brother, nephew, uncle, grandpa, great-grandpa, who left us an example of how to live and care for each other.
Audie is survived by his wife of 59 years, Nancy Alchesay Skidmore; son Minor Skidmore; daughter Redina Mae Skidmore; sister Shirley Gushoney; aunt Lizzie Altaha; niece Kathleen Armstrong; nephews Gilbert Skidmore, Wilbert Skidmore, Rodale Skidmore, Mervin Skidmore, Lloyd Skidmore, Ronnie Skidmore, Emer Skidmore and Lemanuel Skidmore; nine grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and many relatives and friends.
A wake started at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, at 1801 N. Tenijieth Ave. (Redina Skidmore's residence) in Whiteriver. Home services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at the family home with Father Ed Fronske officiating. Interment will be at the Where the White Flowers Grow Cemetery in Forestdale.
Silver Creek Chapel Mortuary of Whiteriver handled the arrangements.
