Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, Arizona Published Tuesday, June 24, 2008 Charles J. Forbes, 65, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2008, in Lake Havasu City. He was born Sept. 28, 1942, in San Francisco, Calif., to Charles and Phyllis Forbes. Chuck moved to Lake Havasu City eight years ago, after retiring from the Sonoma County Sheriff's Department in Santa Rosa, Calif., where he served as a Deputy Sheriff for 32 of his 36-year law enforcement career. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Chuck was a member of the B.P.O.Elks 2399, where he volunteered with the spaghetti crew as well as he volunteered at the Interagency Food Bank. He was also a member of the Masons in Northern California. Chuck is survived by his devoted loving wife, Joanie; loving son, Cory Myers; loving daughters, Jenna Smith, Trisha O'Connor; loving mother, Phyllis M. Forbes; and loving brothers, Martin and Walter Forbes. He was a beloved Papa to his grandchildren, Shailo 5, Elijah 3, and Asher l. Chuck's family and good friends will carry his memory forever in their hearts. Chuck wrote with humor his own epitaph, "I told you I was sick!"
