JoAnn Key, 72, passed away May 21, 2008, at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, Wyo. She was born July 12, 1935, in Kane, Wyo., to Joe Youngbauer-Barber and Emma (Stuckert) Barber in a railroad car. She grew up and went to school in Kaycee, Wyo., and graduated from Kaycee High School in 1952.
She was married Jan. 25, 1953, in Kaycee to Jimmie Key and they made their home in Kaycee. JoAnn spent most of her life in Kaycee and in 1995 she and Jimmie moved to Casper and spent the winters in Lake Havasu City. JoAnn was a driving force for the family business, Key Trucking of Kaycee for many years. After retirement JoAnn traveled extensively across the nation and internationally with Jimmie. Their retirement years were spent enjoying family, friends, grandchildren, and golf in Wyoming and Montana. Jimmie passed away in June of 2006 and JoAnn continued living in Casper until the time of her death.
JoAnn was an extremely giving, faithful, and caring person to everyone. All the people that were touched by JoAnn’s loving heart for the Lord will never forget her. Her dedication to the Lord will be greatly missed by the churches of Kaycee, Lake Havasu City and Casper where she fellowshipped and worshiped. JoAnn was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling, bowling, gardening and spending time with her family.
JoAnn is survived by two sons, Tom (Marlis) Key, of Casper and Terry (Carol) Key, of Missoula, Mont.; four brothers, Melvin Barber, of Helena, Mont., Ray Youngbauer, of Miles City, Mont., Pat Youngbauer, of Livingston, Mont., and Gail Youngbauer, of Forsythe, Mont.; two sisters-in-law, Stella Brock, of Kaycee and Mary Jo (Bob) Foreman, of Bozeman, Mont.; four grandchildren, Christopher Key, of Mystic, Conn., Clayton Key, of Gillette, Wyo., Kristin Camp, of Casper and Kami Jo Key, of Rapid City, S.D.; and numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one brother.
Memorial services were held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Buffalo with Pastors Danny Davis and Buddy Hanson officiating. Burial in Willow Grove Cemetery with graveside rites followed the services. Donations may be made in JoAnn’s memory to the Hoofprints of the Past Museum, the Grace Mission Baptist Church or the charity of choice.
