Barbara DeQuin, 80, passed away May 14, 2008, in Las Vegas, Nev. She was born Feb. 10, 1928 in Detroit, Mich.
Barbara was a Lake Havasu City pioneer, moving here from West Covina, Calif., with her husband, Robert “Bob” DeQuin. She was employed by Havasu Office Supply for 18 years, enjoying the customer service side of her job. Any of her customers became lifelong friends.
She served in the Coast Guard Auxiliary for 20 years and held office as flotilla commander, an instructor of safe boating classes and a safe boating inspector. She was also active at her home church of Mount Olive Lutheran Church, serving in the church council, as congregational president and as worship coordinator for ushers.
The family would like to thank those who took Barbara into their hearts and homes in the last several years. She will be missed by her church family and remembered by many fondly.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Janet (Ed) DeQuin Grassel; and grandchildren, Tom and Heather, all of Portland, Ore. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” DeQuin who passed away in May of 1969.
Memorial services are planned for Saturday at 10:30 a.m., at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, with Rev. Greg Mannel offering words of comfort and inspiration.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be sent to Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Barbara’s name.
