David William Garton has gone fishing in Heaven and is making God laugh. He was born Feb. 24, 1939, in Bryn Mawr, Pa., to Edgar and Ida (Rumer) Garton.
David served under the direction of the United States Navy from 1957-1959. He made Lake Havasu City his home 35 years ago from Philadelphia, Pa.
Before retiring seven years ago, he was employed by United Parcel Service as a driver for 21 years. Prior to working for UPS, he had been a restaurant manager, restaurant owner and an exterminator. He had been a trumpet player in many bands and was involved with the theater. David had been nominated as father of the year, was a scout leader, a volunteer firefighter and paramedic, volunteer scuba diver, ordain minister and a massage therapist. Today, all the local UPS drivers will be driving with their lights on, to show respect to their dear departed brother.
David leaves behind his beloved wife, Lillian Garton; sons, David and Randy Garton; daughters, Laura Henderson, Stephanie Belfie, Holly Montoya and Melanie Evits; step-sons, Jeffrey Cox and Steven Brothers; step-daughters, Wendy Cochran and Marley Lang; brothers, John and Edgar Garton; sisters, Mary Mattan, Dorthy Concordia and Sister Marion Kathlen; nine grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Evelyn Brannan, and Marion Cuddahy.
Memorial services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m., at Lietz-Fraze Chapel. Words of comfort and inspiration will be present by Rev. Carol Shefield.
