Charles S. Ives, Sr., 66, passed away Saturday, May 10, 2008, at home. He was born Dec. 13, 1941 in Omaha, Neb.
Chuck, as he was known, was adopted by Morton and Ester Ives at the age of seven and grew up in Omaha. He graduated from Central High School and attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
He also served proudly with the U.S. Air Force and worked for 18 years as an oil company superintendent.
In 1979 he married his beloved wife, Sandra, and together they built and operated movie theaters in Iowa and Nebraska. Chuck was active in the Optimist Club and was named Nebraska Optimist of the year 1995-1996. In 1998, the Ives moved to Lake Havasu City where Chuck worked the last four and a half years at Car Quest. Chuck enjoyed fishing and was a member of the Lake Havasu Elks Lodge BPOE where he enjoyed playing on the Monday night dart league. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 81 and the Eagles.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, and survived by his wife of 29 years, Sandra, of Lake Havasu City; daughter, Christina (Nicholas) Taranec, of Kingman; son, Michael, of Amarillo, Texas; daughter, Cyndi (Kurtis) Kammerer, of Omaha; five grandchildren, Cheyenne and Jordyn Taranec, Alex Ives and Kurtis and Wil Kammerer.
A Lodge of Sorrows will be held at the Lake Havasu Elks Lodge BPOE on Sunday at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Chuck’s name to the Hospice of Havasu.
