SMITH, Harriet Ann

Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, Arizona Published Saturday, May 3, 2008 9:41 PM MST Harriet Ann Smith, 80, died at home with her family by her side of a long and courageous battle with pulmonary disease on April 23, 2008. She was born Oct. 28, 1927, in Lindsay, Calif. She always made sure she told us how much she loved us. She was always there to help with advice or just a positive, “Everything will be just fine.” She enjoyed feeding all of us, as well, and she was a wonderful cook. Her smiling face will be forever in our memories. Looking back at her life she is remembered most for the love of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and of vacations to the river every summer and how much fun we had - especially her gourmet sub sandwiches on the top of an ice chest. She had a great sense of humor and passed it on to her children. She was a devoted Christian, a member of CalvaryBaptistChurch and an active member of the Christian Women's Club, always giving a hug to everyone. She said that she viewed everyone as her friend; she had many and loved them all. She viewed all of her club members as her sisters and loved them as if they truly were. To be around Harriet was like standing in a ray of sunlight, warm and friendly and full of love and joy. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, David Smith. She is survived by her children, Laurel Ellis, Steven (Joyce) Smith, and Carolyn (Art) Diemer; her grandchildren, Christa Blazer and James Goodnight and their children Allison, David, Kimberly, Kaleb and Summer; Michael and Jen Ellis and their children, Tayler and Ethan; Stephanie Ellis and her fiancé Matthew Hagen; Mathew and Michelle Smith; L Cpl Robert Smith; James Smith; David and Christina Diemer and their children Kaley and Ashley, Daniel and Alicia Diemer and their children, Gwen, Mason and Aubrey. And last but not least her beloved West Highland Terrier Max, the only dog she ever loved. Her family wishes to thank HavasuRegionalHospital, Dr. Ronald Parker, and Hospice of Havasu. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Lake Havasu Community Food Bank, 1940 Mesquite Ave. Ste. 1, Lake Havasu City, AZ86403 or Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund, 1605 S.
