Claude W. Clements, 83, of Casa Grande died Aug. 26, 2002 in Casa Grande. Memorial service Saturday at First Presbyterian Church of Casa Grande, with the Rev. Rick Lemberg officiating. Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, in Minneapolis. Mr. Clements was born March 24, 1919 in Benkelman, Neb., to Horace and Gladys (Collicut) Clements. He retired from the Air Force as a major after service that included World War II. He served in North Africa and Italy for 31 months. He also worked as an electrical engineer before retiring at Honeywell International Inc. in Minneapolis. He volunteered with 700 Club in Minneapolis, The Salvation Army and was a docent for Casa Grande Valley Historical Society. He was a historian of the Civil War and enjoyed fishing. He lived in Arizona for 17 years. Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Donna; two daughters, Christine Crist of Hudson, Ohio, and Cynthia Tierschel of Eden Prairie, Minn.; a son, Dr. James K. Clements of Washington, Pa.; two stepdaughters, Marjorie Scott of Young and Patricia Vaughn of Oklahoma City; a stepson, Michael McIntosh of Tucson; a sister, Grace Greenslity of Baltimore; two brothers, Harry Clements of Auburn, Wash., and Larry Clements of Kent, Wash.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and seven stepgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 25 years, Lila Fay, in 1967. Memorial contributions may be made to: Alzheimer Disease & Related Disorders, Greater Phoenix Chapter, 1028 E.
