John Emory Tillman, 65, died Oct. 27, 2007, in Show Low.
John was born May 18, 1942, to Emory and Margery Tillman in Clovis, N.M. John served in the Air Force from 1961-1965. He worked as an Area representative/lineman for Navopache Electric Co-op and retired in 1998. John's greatest enjoyment was when he was spending time teaching his grandchildren about the outdoors. John was an avid fisherman as well as hunter. Even if he wasn't hunting you could often find him taking trips to the mountains for the day to fish the Black River and just enjoy the outdoors. "We will miss him greatly on our family camping trips."
John is survived by his wife, Mary Ella Atkins Tillman; sons Troy Lunn Tillman of Arlington, Texas; Quinn Alan (Samantha) Tillman of St. Johns; daughter Dana Leigh Tillman of St. Johns; brothers Marshall (Freda) Tillman of Beaver, Okla., and Larry (Louise) Tillman of Ruidoso Downs, N.M.; sister Christine (Bill) Jones of Grady, N.M.; grandchildren Krista Bailey Tillman, Kori Ashtyn Tillmanand Trenton Joseph Tillman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emory and Margery Tillman; and sister Teresa Pond.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Cancer Research Foundation or the Grady Fire Department.
Funeral Services were held Wednesday, Oct. 31, at the First Southern Baptist Church, 1445 W. 4th St. in St. Johns. Interment followed at the Grady Cemetery in Grady, N.M.
Burnham Mortuary of St. Johns handled funeral arrangements. Muffley Funeral Home of Grady, N.M. handled interment arrangements.
