Morris (Pep)
Morris "Pep" Berman Passed away Sunday, August 29, 2010 with his family at his side in Tucson, Arizona.
Morris was born July 15, 1917 in Wilkes-Barre, PA.
He graduated from GAR High School.
He served heroically in World Word II as a flight surgeon's assistant in the Army Air Corp in the European and African Theatres.
After his military service, he returned to his home in Wilkes-Barre and spent most of his adult life in retail sales for the J. S. Raub Shoe Corporation. He was one of the best known merchants on Wilkes-Barre's Main Street. As a sideline, he worked with his father Nate Berman in the house painting and wall-paper hanging business, a craft that he continued well into his retirement from retail sales.
Throughout his life he remained active in sports as a participant, coach and umpire. He enjoyed walking, swimming and riding a bike late into his 80s. He is probably best known for his devotion to friends and family and for his commitment to his synagogues in Wilkes-Barre, PA, Lake Worth, FL and most recently Tucson, AZ.
He is survived by his wife, Naomi Berman of Tucson, AZ; daughter, Sandra Kam (Jeff) of Baltimore, MD; daughter, Joan Berman of Tucson, AZ; son, Scott Berman, MD (Christi) of Tucson, AZ and granddaughters, Samantha Kam of Baltimore, MD and Alex Berman of Tucson, AZ.
Graveside Service Wednesday, September 1, 2010, 4:00 p.m. at East Lawn Cemetery, 5801 E. Grant Rd., with Rabbi Philip "Billy" Lewkowicz officiating. Arrangements by EVERGREEN MORTUARY & CEMETERY. Memorial contributions may be made to Congregation Bet Shalom, 3881 E. River Rd., Tucson 85718.
