STEWART, Nancye B.

Nancye B. Stewart of Mesa, Arizona passed away on December 25, 2003. Mrs. Stewart was born on June 16, 1924, to Charles and Susan Skeff-ington of Detroit, Michigan. She grew up in Milford, Michigan, and graduated from Milford High School in 1941 as class Valedictorian. She attended Olivet College in Olivet, Michigan, and was a member of Soronian. At Olivet she met her future husband, Robert. They were married December 14, 1943, just after he completed basic training with the U.S. Marine Corps. After graduating from Olivet College in 1945 with a BA in Economics and Journalism, Mrs. Stewart joined her husband in San Francisco during his military service, after which they returned to Michigan. In 1959 the Stewarts moved to Mesa, Arizona. Mrs. Stewart received her teaching certificate in 1963, and began a 20-year career at Mesa Junior High School. She received her Masters of Arts in Education in September 1968. She retired from teaching in 1983. Mrs. Stewart was a charter member of the Pilot Club of East Valley, a chapter of Pilot International. The members of the chapter have volunteered at the Prehab Thrift Shop on University in Mesa for 17 years. She was a member of the Mesa Southwest Museum Auxiliary and volunteered at the Mesa Southwest Museum Gift Shop. Mrs. Stewart is survived by her husband of 60 years, Robert of Mesa, sons Robert (Susan) of Mesa and Charles (Lenora) of Michigan, daughter Andrea (Dean Turner) of Gilbert, granddaughter, Jennifer (Jeffrey Hoenshell) of California, grandson Kevin of Mesa, step-grand-sons Aaron and David Turner of California, sister Lettie Ric-hardson of Michigan, nephew Lyle See of Michigan, niece Judith Van Assche of Michigan, niece Susan See of Florida, nephew Michael Richardson of Nebraska, and niece Eleanor Ladenburg of Michigan. Services will be held on Friday, January 2, 2004, at Melcher Chapel of the Roses, 43 S. Stapley in Mesa. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Nancye's name to Pilot Club of East Valley, in care of Susan Taggart, P.O. Box 11400, Scottsdale, AZ 85271-1400.
