Ray Wilburn Hurd Sr. died Saturday, April 19, 2008, in Las Vegas, Nev., just three days shy of his 71st wedding anniversary. He was born Aug. 2, 1914, in Walnut Grove, Mo.
Ray grew up in Missouri and moved to California as a young man. He resided in San Dimas and Montclair, Calif. Ray moved to Lake Havasu City upon his retirement and resided there for 20 plus years. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, WWII. He was active in the First Southern Baptist Church and served proudly as a deacon. Ray moved to Las Vegas, Nev., to spend his last years with his wife and son.
Surviving are his wife, Daisey Louise Hurd; son, Ray W. (Rebecca) Hurd Jr., of Las Vegas; grandson, Jeffery R.(Kathy) Hurd, of San Diego; granddaughter, Shelli L. Hurd and partner Jennifer, of Superior, Colo.; granddaughter, Rosanna (Will) Sample, of Las Vegas; grandson, Christopher Craig of Valencia, Calif.; great grandchildren, Eric Hurd, Austin Hurd, Audra Hurd, Nicholas Sample and Nathaniel Sample.
A viewing will be held at Lietz-Fraze Chapel on Thursday from 3-5 p.m. Interment will be at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens.
