Marta Josephine Blake, 80, passed away Monday, April 21, 2008, in Lake Havasu City. She was born Dec. 3, 1927, in Hollywood, Calif.; to Earl and Hattie (Bowers) Catlin.
While living in California, Marta worked as a waitress, which she truly enjoyed. It enabled her to meet many people from different walks of life, from sports figures to television and movie celebrities. Marta also worked as a cosmetician in Van Nuys, Calif., at the Montgomery Ward store for many years. She also an avid bowler, teaming up with her daughter Nancy, but Marta’s true passion and strength in her life was her family. She was a fun and outgoing person with a lot of friends. Marta will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Marta is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Robert “Rocky” Blake; daughter, Nancy (George) Westhoven, of Lake Havasu City; son, William (Debi) Freudiger, of Canyon Country, Calif.; step-son, Lee (Janice) Blake, of Simi Valley, Calif.; step-daughters, Charlotte (Rick) de la Haba,. of Bonita, Calif.; and Charlene (Joe) Rappaport, of Wills Point, Texas; as well as her nine grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
No services are to be held.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Marta’s name to Hospice of Havasu, P.O. Box 597, Lake Havasu City, AZ; 86405.
