TRACEY, Bernice

Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, Arizona Published Friday, April 18, 2008 Bernice "Bea" Tracey Feb. 14, 1935 - April 14, 2008 Bea passed away quietly at home Monday with her family at her side. She was born Feb. 14, 1935 in California. Bea and her husband Dan retired and moved to Lake Havasu City in 1986. Bea enjoyed golf and was a member of the London Bridge Women's Golf Association. She served as president in 1994. In addition, she served several board positions and chaired the Classy Lady Golf Tournament. Bea was known as the Mother Goose of Tracey's Terrors. She believed that a woman's place was on the golf course. Bea was the Arizona Diamondback's number one fan and had been since their first day as a team. Thanks to the efforts of many, Bea was fortunate enough to meet the team personally three weeks ago. Her other interests included reading, gardening and crocheting. She took great pleasure in being a part of the Bosom Buddies, a breast cancer survivor's group. Her dynamic personality was such a great example of her optimism, strength and inspiration, especially when she participated in the Relay for Life walk a year ago. Bea is survived by her brother, Richard Deese; her sister, Carolyn Nathan; her daughter, Claire Cunningham; stepson, Jeffry M. Tracey, retired CWO/LT, U.S.C.G.; grandchildren, Apryl, Michael, Nick and Zach; and several great grandchildren that she cherished. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Daniel E. Tracey in 2000. Her family and many friends will dearly miss Bea, but her memory will always be in our hearts. Our family will always be very grateful and impressed by Hospice of Havasu for the amazing love, support and care that she received. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Hospice of Havasu. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
