Gerald L. Jones, 82, of Phoenix, passed away Dec. 27, 2003. He was born Aug. 8, 1921, in Tallula, Illinois, where he loved playing softball and basketball.
He served in the Army Air Force from 1942 until 1946. He married Ruth Polechla in 1947 then opened his own barber shop in Springfield, Ill. which he ran for 37 years, dispensing haircuts, advice and friendship.
After moving to Arizona in 1977, he barbered in Sun City until his retirement in 1983.
He is survived by his children, Judi, Gerald, Jeffrey, Jay and Jennifer; grandchildren Paul, Dana, Heather, Jesse, Charity, Andy, Hanna and Zachary; and great-grandson Paul III. Dad, we'll miss your corny jokes and fishing stories.
Visitation and services will be held Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary, 7924 N. 59th Ave., Glendale. For those who wish to make a donation in his memory, please contribute to the American Heart Association.
