Herbert Victor Booth
Born Herbert Victor Booth on Sept. 7, 1929, in Wilmar, Calif., (now Alhambra) to Dewey and Dorothy (Smith) Booth (deceased), Herb was the second of five children: a sister Nora (deceased), brother Ed of Wickenburg, and twin sisters, Donna (deceased) and Diane of Riverside, Calif.
Herb served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and upon his return from Korea in 1953, he married his sweetheart, Martha Mae (Jinks) Booth.
Herb and Mae have made Kingman their home for the past 20 years, moving here upon his retirement. They were blessed with four sons, Gary and Donald Booth (deceased), Ronald Booth of Kingman and Thomas Booth of Long Beach, Calif.
Herb was a retired plumber from Local 494 and a retired park ranger from the Boy Scouts.
He was a member of the Tribe of Tahquitz, earned the Golden Arrow award as a leader in Scouts, and was a third-degree Mason.
He enjoyed undertaking projects around the house, playing bones (dominoes), and bowling weekly with Mae, their friends and family. Herb attended the Kingman Christian Church.
The children there, as well as his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, benefited from his love and talent of working with wood.
He was always creating new toys and projects to keep himself and the little ones busy and happy. He enjoyed being in his shop.
Herb could be found at any age fixing something for a neighbor or helping out a friend.
He wasn't comfortable with lots of recognition and took joy in knowing he was doing something kind for someone else.
Herb departed this earth to be with our Lord on Sunday morning, Aug. 22, 2010, in Las Vegas with his wife Mae and sons Ronald and Thomas at his bedside.
Herb is survived by his wife Mae; sons, Ronald and Thomas; brother, Ed; sister Diane and their families; 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; his beloved sister-in-law; and nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, at the Kingman Christian Church, 2820 Gordon Drive, Kingman.
