SILVERHORN, Marcus

The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ September 24, 2007 Marcus Silverhorn died Sept. 20, 2007, in Seattle, Wash. He was born June 18, 1951, in Oklahoma. Marcus was a member of the Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma. He moved to St. Johns in his junior year of high school with the Indian Placement Program. He graduated from St. Johns High School in 1969. While in school he played football and wrestling. After high school he moved to Utah and attended Brigham Young University (BYU). In Utah he married and started a family while working at Provo Power. In 1980 he and his family moved back to St. Johns where he worked for Navopache Electric. Later he moved to Seattle, Wash., where he also worked for a power company. Marc loved fishing and playing golf during his leisure time. He is survived by his children, Brandon and Erin Silverhorn of St. Johns, Patricia Silverhorn of St. Johns, Brian and Amanda Silverhorn of St. Johns and Jason Silverhorn of Honolulu, Hawaii; his grandchildren, Kurtis Silverhorn, Jon Silverhorn, Anastasia Silverhorn, Kortnie Silverhorn, Lianna Silverhorn, Cheyanne Silverhorn and Graham Silverhorn; his brothers and sisters, Thomas Silverhorn of Fort Cobb, Okla., James Silverhorn of Maddison Park, Okla., Charles Silverhorn of Anadarko, Okla., Carla Jo Silverhorn of Oklahoma City, Okla., Maxine Silverhorn-Polite of Livingston, Texas, and Marlene Silverhorn-Tatterson of Crawfordville, Ind.; adopted sister Velma Hisenberger; a cousin, Lance Silverhorn of Mesa; and many other nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Colleen Silverhorn of Port Orchard, Wash.; his parents, Max Silverhorn Sr. and Vernita Joyce Auchiah; his brothers, Max Silverhorn Jr. and Allan Silverhorn; his sister, Elizabeth "Ster" Silverhorn-Codapony; and adopted brother, Cody Hangooah. Funeral services will be held at the Downtown St. Johns LDS Chapel at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29. Flowers can be sent in care of Brian or Brandon Silverhorn at the LDS Chapel, 2000 W.
