James “Jim” M. Cox Jr. passed away at his home in Lake Havasu City with his family by his side Sept. 9, 2010. He was born Aug. 6, 1939, in Oklahoma City, Okla., to James M. Cox Sr. and Lucile Scott (Funkhouser) Cox.
Jim, as he was known to his family and friends, married his beloved wife, Selma, Sept. 7, 1960, in Riverside, Calif. Two days prior to Jim’s passing, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Jim retired from Jurupa Parks and Recreation as maintenance supervisor in 2000. He loved to go fishing, frequent his many favorite casinos and play cards with family and friends. He enjoyed many BBQs and he especially loved to travel across the United States to visit his many grandbabies. Jim will be deeply missed and forever loved.
Jim is survived by his wife of 50 years, Selma E. Cox, of Lake Havasu City; sons, James Cox III, John (Susan) Cox; daughters, Chris Whitehead and Tracey (Jay) Longest; mother, Lucile Scott; grandchildren, Jennifer (Andrew) Cox, Amanda and Laura Whitehead, Josh Cox, Anna Cox and Jennacey Longest; great-grandchildren, Gavin, Layla and Grace; brother, Lonnie Cox and sister-in-law, Verna Souza. His father, James Cox Sr.; and a son-in-law, Steve Whitehead, preceded him in death.
