ANDERSON, Charles F.


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ August 16, 2007 Charles F. Anderson died Aug. 12, 2007, in Walnut Creek, Calif. Charles was born in St. Johns May 29, 1923. He graduated with a great class from St. Johns High School and worked with his father on the farm, ranch and retail stores. He piloted a B-17 during WWII. He was shot down over Germany and spent a difficult time as a POW. Following his service he returned to Arizona and married Joyce Colter. They moved to California where Charles attended medical school. Together they raised a wonderful family. Charles specialized in pediatrics and served the Walnut Creek area children for many years. Charles loved to farm. He raised beans and alfalfa as a young man, and, when his medical practice was winding down, he purchased a walnut farm near Brentwood, Calif. He believed in physical work and taught his children well. He loved his family and friends and will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. Funeral services were held in Walnut Creek, Calif., and a memorial service at the Downtown LDS Chapel in St. Johns Saturday, Aug. 18, at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in the St. Johns Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Joyce; daughter Patrice May (Robin) of Berkeley, Calif.; son James (Ann) of Sandy, Utah; daughter Janet of Walnut Creek. Calif.; son Gregory (Karen) of Concord, Calif.; son Eric (Sally) of Walnut Creek; son David (Michelle) of Irvine, Calif.; brother Albert S. Anderson and sister Charlotte, both of St. Johns. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert F. and Cora S. Anderson, and sisters, Kathlyn, Marvine, Greeta, Sonja Claire and Carol.
