The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ August 23, 2007 Darla Gettmann, 49, of Lakeside died at her home Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2007. Darla was born March 6, 1958, at Kennewick, Wash., the daughter of Forrest and Roberta (Nuttall) Bishop. She was reared and attended school in Longview, Wash. She worked as a nurse's aide for many years in the tri-city area of Washington. She married Garold Gettman on Sept. 2, 1995, in Longview, Wash. She came to Lakeside in 2002 where she was an artist and worked in art sales, most recently at the Burly Bear. She enjoyed hiking and visiting Native American ruins. She was a friend to everyone and had a knack for helping people in distress. Memorials may be made to Friends of CASA. Survivors include her husband, Garold; her parents, Forrest and Roberta Bishop of Longview, Wash.; two sisters, Dawn Akhavan and Heather Bishop-Ostgard, both of Longview, Wash., and two brothers, David Bishop of Kingman, Wash., and Dan Bishop of Longview, Wash. Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 21, at Dahl-McVicker Funeral Home in Kelso, Wash. Burial was at Cowlitzview Memorial Gardens.
