JOHNSTON, Jane

The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ August 23, 2007 Jane O'Neal Johnston, 90, died Aug. 21, 2007, in Eagar. She was born March 17, 1917, in North Galloway Township, Miss., to William Sherman O'Neal and Ora Young. Jane moved with her family to Arizona and there she married James, her husband of 71 years. After raising her boys she went to work for Murphy School. An active golfer, she also served in various community and church activities in Tolleson. Jane is survived by her husband, James W. "Skeeter" Johnston of Eagar; two sons, John (Marie) Johnston of Eagar and Wes (Pat) Johnston of Spring, Texas; along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Monday, Aug. 27, at 11 a.m. at Burnham Mortuary, 535 North Main, Eagar. A reception will follow the service at the home of John Johnston, 1398 South Pine, Eagar. The family would like to acknowledge all of the caregivers at the Friendship House. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Friendship House in Eagar. Burnham Mortuary of Eagar handled arrangements.
