HANSEN, Orval D., Jr.

The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ August 30, 2007 Orval D. Hansen Jr., 56, of Pinetop died at his residence Monday, Aug. 27, 2007. Orval was born July 30, 1951, at Fort Dodge, Iowa, to Orval and Norma (Elston) Hansen Sr. He grew up and attended school in Arizona. He entered the U.S. Army following high school in 1969 and served in Vietnam. He was married to the former Karla Tompkins April 1, 1984, in Las Vegas, Nev. He came to the White Mountains 12 years ago and worked as a carpenter. His favorite pastimes were hunting and fishing. He was baptized into the Methodist faith. Survivors include his wife, Karla; daughter Sarah Hansen of Pinetop; his parents, Orval and Norma Hansen of Ash Fork; and two brothers, Charles Edward Hansen of Buckeye and Alvy Lee Hansen of Whitman. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, at 6416 Webb (corner of Webb and Pond) in Wagon Wheel. Military rites will be performed by Veterans of Foreign Wars Show Low Post 9907. Arrangements were under the direction of Black's Mortuary of Show Low.
