VAN ZANDT, Michael Martin


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ September 3, 2007 Michael Martin Van Zandt died June 11, 2007, at the Veterans Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. Mike was born in Globe in 1957; however, he lived much of his life in Pinetop. Mike joined the U.S. Navy when he was 18 and returned to Pinetop after his military service. Mike moved to Moab, Utah, in the early 80s, however, he always loved the freedom and the beauty of Pinetop, where many of his friends still live. Mike is survived by three daughters, Nichole, 25, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Deanna, 17, of Dove Creek, Colo., and Tania, 10, of Moab, Utah; two beautiful grandchildren, Olivia and Hunter. He is also survived by two brothers and a sister, Jamie Washington of Los Angeles, Buddy Felkins of Tempe and Sonny Felkins of Monticello, Utah. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Martin (Red) Van Zandt, his mother, Charlene Felkins Van Zandt and his nephew, Patrick Felkins. A memorial service will be held for Mike Sept. 8 in Pinetop.
