Al Cooper passed away on Sept. 7, 2010. Al was born in Tucson, Ariz. and was the eldest of four children.
Al served in the Navy from 1951 to 1956. He was very proud of his service in the Navy. He was employed by Safeway as a meat cutter until he retired in 1991.
Al led a full and active life. Some of his hobbies and activities included hiking the Grand Canyon, kayaking, canoeing, and wood working. He absolutely loved being with and traveling with Tillie! He served the Lord with joy and was a hospice volunteer.
Al was a man of great character and integrity. He was as honest as the day is long. He was kind, gentle, and loving. Al shared Jesus with others every chance he got. He was a devoted husband to Tillie; he said it didn’t matter where he was, or what he was doing, as long as he was with her.
Al is survived by his wife, Tillie; children, Laura (Larry) Yarborough, Dawn Diecks, Tina (Cedric) Wilkerson, and Jesus (Caroline) Falquez. He is also survived by his brother, John (Pat); sisters, Velma (Jim) Doty, and Virginia (Craig) Doty, as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, Sept. 15 at 10 a.m. at the Central Heights Baptist Church, 5468 S. Apache Ave., in Globe.
