STRAHLE, Richard

The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ July 26, 2007 Richard Strahle was the most alive person that ever lived. Richard was also known as Uncle Groovy, Dick and Strails. His sense of humor, laugh, voice and love for life were unparalleled. He was born and raised in New York but had a love and appreciation for small-town life as well. He was the self-proclaimed "Original Urban Cowboy." Although he only lived 55 years, he accomplished much in his time on this Earth. After receiving his bachelor's degree from the University of Arizona he went on to obtain his master's degree and begin work on his doctorate. He enjoyed a career in counseling and real estate. He was also a proud owner of CPWs Bar in Tucson in the 1980s. When Richard wasn't working, he was playing ... and playing hard! His hobbies were wild and fun, just like him. He was a skydiver, martial artist, motorcyclist, car collector, dancer, traveler, comedian and avid "ebayer!" The world was a happier place because of Richard, and his presence will be missed in countless lives. There are few with as many friends as he had. Survivors include his wife, Nori; children Holly, Felicia and Richie; siblings Susan (Jamie), Linda (Harry), Chip and Robert; nieces and nephews Carlyn, Clayton, Katie, Josie, Skyla, Kevin, Kerry, Amy and Tina. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Mary Kathryn, and his brother, Bill. A celebration of life will be held in Richard's honor at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 28, at Owens Mortuary in Show Low. Owens Mortuary of Show Low handled the arrangements.
