DESJARDINS, Maurice Joseph


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ July 30, 2007 Maurice Joseph Desjardins, 68, of Show Low died Sunday, July 29, 2007, at RTA Hospice in Lakeside. Mr. Desjardins was born Nov. 21, 1938, in Massena, N.Y., the son of Antonio and Delisca Desjardins. He was raised and attended school there, graduating from Massena Central High School in 1957. He married Leona Perry July 9, 1960, in Massena. He was employed at Alcoa Aluminum for 18 years in New York before coming to Arizona in 1984. He lived in Scottsdale, where he worked for the Scottsdale Conference Resort for 16 years. He came to Show Low six years ago and had been employed in the purchasing department at Navapache Regional Medical Center (now Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center) for the past two years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pinetop, and a life member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and was very devoted to his family. Survivors include his wife, Leona, of the home; two daughters Brenda Hall of Show Low and Susan Desjardins of Scottsdale; three sons Maurice (Laurie) Desjardins, Jr. of Sugarland, Texas, Randy (Angela) Desjardins of Peoria and Michael Desjardins of Scottsdale; a sister, Rolande Sweeney of Massena, N.Y.; nine grandchildren, Scott, Maury, Nicole, Kimberly, Danielle, Robin Jr., Justin, Noelle and Emily. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Lucille Leach and a brother, Gerard Desjardins. A Rosary will be recited Wednesday, Aug. 1, at Black's Mortuary Chapel in Show Low. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, Aug. 2, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pinetop, with Father Dan Daily officiating. Burial will be at Show Low Cemetery.
