HESSLER, Alice (G.G.)

Alice (Vogel) Hessler "G.G.", 95, passed away in Nogales, Arizona, on December 31, 2003. Alice was born in Tucson, Arizona, in 1908. Her father, Albert Vogel, was a Southern Pacific railroad engineer for 51 years. She graduated from Tucson High in 1926. She was captain of the basketball team and was offered a scholarship by UA's Pop McKale. She did not attend University due to the death of her mother, Edna Lurania Flood. Her aunt, Ida Flood Dodge, was a well-known Arizona educator. She married George E. Hessler in 1929. They lived in Tucson, Stockton CA, Nogales and Mesa. While in Mesa, she was an avid competition bowler (180 average) and taught the sport to many while employed at Mesa Bowling Center. They retired to Nogales in 1970 and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1979. George passed away in 1980. Alice lived the last nine years in Tubac, Arizona. She is survived by daughter, Shirley Titcomb; grandchildren, Brad Titcomb (Michele Crevelone Titcomb) and Allison Titcomb (Chuck Fellows); great grandsons, Brett, Dustin and Ian Titcomb; and many other loving family members and friends. G.G. will be fondly remembered as a grandmother to all who met her. No formal services at her request. The family truly appreciates the loving care shown by the staff of Carondolet Holy Cross Hospital and Hospice Care in Nogales.
