Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, AZ Wednesday, September 8, 2010 Edward A. Jasper Jr., 73, formerly of Flagstaff, died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010, at the Kindred Hospital in Glendale. Mr. Jasper was born Sept. 7, 1936, in St. Louis. From infancy, he was raised in Globe until high school when he went to Susanville, Calif. Upon graduation from college in St. Louis, Mr. Jasper entered the U.S. Marine Corps and attained the rank of MGy Sgt., and he served three tours of duty in Vietnam. He humbly accepted a Silver Star, two Bronze Starts, two Purple Hearts, two company citations and more. Upon leaving service, he worked at his chosen field in mechanical engineering, HVAC systems and designing and overseeing projects. He was also instrumental in preliminary work on a Las Vegas landmark in the 1990s. When he retired, he wished to pursue his favorite pastime and moved to Tonto Basin in 2006 to go fishing at Roosevelt Lake when he felt like it. He belonged to the Fort Reno VFW Post No. 8807 in Tonto Basin. He also belonged to the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 793 in Flagstaff and was Past Commander of the VFW Post No. 1709 in Flagstaff. Mr. Jasper is survived by Pat Jasper of Flagstaff; son Craig (Tonya) Milam; a grandson; sister Norma Weeks; two nieces; and extended family in Susanville. No services will be held because Mr. Jasper was an anatomic donor. A brief memorial service will be Sept. 25 at the VFW Post 8807 in Tonto Basin.
