Lee Edward Bird passed away Sept. 12, 2010, in Lake Havasu City at the age of 58. Lee was born in Boston on July 19, 1952, to Leo and Marilyn (Grinham) Bird.
Lee entered the U.S. Coast Guard Oct. 29, 1971, and proudly served his country until Oct. 14, 1975.
Lee and his wife, Amy, moved to Lake Havasu City two years ago from Las Vegas, where he worked for FedEx until his retirement. Lee was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, past member of the Shriners and Mason’s of Manchester, N.H. Among his many hobbies were hockey, NASCAR and other forms of auto racing and camping and traveling in his RV.
Lee is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Amy Kala`imi Kamakeeaina Bird; daughter, Kawanoe Lesley-Ann Bird Thompson, of Blue Springs, Mo.; stepsons Allan Tusifolau Atagi and Jasen Ikaika Atagi, both of Independence, Mo.; brother Neil Daniel Bird; grandchildren, Sienna Liane Thompson, Paige Atagi, Emily Thompson, Spencer Thompson and Aivale Atagi. He was preceded in death by his parents Leo and Marilyn Bird and grandparents John and Mae Grinham and Leo and Rose Bird.
A small service will take place mid-week in Lake Havasu City at the Acoma Chapel. Interment will be in Hawaii at a later date for family and close friends.
