Indian School Mortuary Scottsdale, Arizona Martha Chambers, passed away peacefully, at age 78, on September 19th, 2010. Martha was a beloved Mother, Grandmother, and neighbor. She was a strong woman whose friendship and kindness once given was cherished by neighbors and family alike. Her friends and neighbors were a very important part of her life and her kindness brought out the best in everyone around her. She is survived by children son Brian Chambers and daughter Kristi Chambers-Kien, grandchildren Steven, Tasi, Thomas, and Callie, and two great grandchildren Brianna and baby Kendal. She is also survived by her best friends and neighbors Linda and Jim Wintersten and family of Scottsdale. Martha was the younger of two daughters born in Adams, Tennessee in 1932, where she was fondly known as Teeney. Her parents Clifton and Rhea Smith were honest and hard working share crop farmers and well respected in their community. Until moving to Arizona in the early 1950's, Martha worked at Fort Campbell, Kentucky for the US army as a civilian receptionist. Martha will be greatly missed by all those that she met in her many hours of volunteerism with the Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce, the Lazy J's, Parada del sol, March of dimes, Arizona Convention Bureau, and many other organizations and in the 60's and 70's. She was a tireless worker if she believed in the cause, working thousands of hours raising thousands of dollars in the Scottsdale community. A graveside service will be held at Messinger's Paradise Memorial Gardens, 9300 E. Shea Boulevard in Scottsdale on Tuesday September 28th, at 11 am, where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved son Craig who waits for her in heaven.
