The White Mountain Independent,
Show Low, Arizona ~ September 28, 2010
Lincoln Robin Sherwood, 63, formerly of St. Johns died Sept. 26, 2010, at home on the ranch in Darrouzett, Texas after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born Jan. 9, 1947, in St. Johns to Gleason Richey Sherwood and Alma Heap.
Lincoln, his brother Kim, and his sister Kathy were raised in St. Johns by their grandparents L.P. and Clara Sherwood and Byron and Anona Heap, after their parents died tragically in an auto accident when the children were young.
Lincoln married Linda Udall and together they raised six children. Linda has always been devoted to Lincoln and never waivered in her support of him chasing his dreams. Through hard work and sacrifice, they were blessed to find success in cattle ranching, horse racing, and a construction business. Their children learned by example the value of hard work in every aspect of life. Lincoln had a great love for horses and cattle and truly loved the ranching lifestyle. He took great pride in owning and raising "good" livestock.
Lincoln was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served a two-year mission in Ireland, as well as serving in various positions and callings for the Church throughout his lifetime.
Lincoln is survived by his wife Linda; sons Mark (Gena) of Kirtland, N.M., Vern (Luz) of Gilbert, Matt (Sheila) of Nephi, Utah, Chase (Molly) of Taylor; daughters Melissa (Mike) Hancock of Snowflake, Brooke (Cy) White of Canadian, Texas; brother Kim (Debbie) of St. Johns and sister Kathy Phalen of St. Johns, 24 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held in St. Johns at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 1, in the Downtown Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with visitation from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
Interment will take place at the St. Johns Westside Cemetery.
