Marion Francis Headrick died June 20, 2007, in Bend, Ore. at the age of 79.
He was born July 31, 1927, in San Diego, Calif., to parents Francis M. and Doris P. (Michael) Headrick. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. In 1948, he married Joanne Miller in Whittier, Calif. He had worked for the Whittier Dairy for five years and then for General Telephone Company for 40 years. He lived in the Whittier area from 1948 to 1969 when he moved to San Jose, Calif., and then to Show Low in 1991 until moving to Bend, Ore. in January 2007.
He was a life member of the American Legion and an officer for the American Legion Executive Committee and a life member of the Elks Lodge. He joined the Elks Lodge in Whittier, Calif., then Los Gatos, Calif., and then the Show Low lodge. Hedrick enjoyed "RVing" and belonged to camping groups at Whittier Elks and Los Gatos Elks. He started a camping group in 1970 in San Jose area and was a charter member.
He is survived by his wife, Joanne of Bend, Ore.; three sons, Doug of Bend, Ore., Steve of Aloha, Ore., and Brian of Ferron, Utah; also three grandchildren; and one sister Charlotte Owens of La Hambra, Calif.
A memorial service will be held July 21 at 2 p.m. at the Bend Elks Lodge, 63120 Boyd Acres Road in Bend, Oregon.
