Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, AZ Sunday, October 03, 2010 Patricia LaVerne Richards, 67, formerly of Flagstaff, died Wednesday, May 26, 2010. She was born Dec. 22, 1942, in Cleveland, Ohio. She moved to Tucson in 1964 with family, and later lived in Bullhead City. She moved to Flagstaff in 1969, where she resided until moving to Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico, in 2005. She lived life the way she wanted, full of love, enthusiasm and a strong sense of determination. She was always true to herself, always the most lively person in the room. Her energy was contagious. She loved people and enjoyed being engaged in her community and the activities of her son as he grew up. She thrived on close friends, deep conversation and delighted in a lively debate. Her intelligence, quick wit and resolve were formidable. Her warmth drew people to her and created a sense of instant intimacy. She grabbed life and took it for a good ride. She was a very spiritual person, happiest when helping people or worshipping Mother Earth and all her flora and fauna. She was fascinated by all religions, and she sought wisdom from many sources. She became a master gardener, herbalist, massage therapist, social worker and student of human nature. She was a successful entrepreneur and small business owner, real estate broker, homemaker, rancher and archaeologist, to name a few. She is survived by her son, Devon Ambler of Arizona; two grandchildren; sister Linda Valdez; and many loving friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, LaVerne and William Fundling. A celebration of her life was in Ensenada and one is being planned for Flagstaff at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Condolences can be sent to her family at www.norvelowensmortuary.com. Norvel Owens Mortuary is handling arrangements.
