Roland Samuel Peters was called home May 21 2007.
He was born Feb. 19, 1938, in Ashurst to Johnny Andrew and Vivian Brown Peters. He was the third child in a family of 10, four girls and six boys. He was raised in Luna, N.M.
Roland met his wife, Barbara Ann Peterson, in Show Low. They were married Oct. 21, 1961. They lived in Arizona and were blessed with four children, Vonzza, Rolanda, Theron and Kelvin. Roland was sealed to Barbara, his eternal companion, Feb. 20, 1965 in the Mesa, Arizona Temple.
They moved to Boise, Idaho in 1970. Roland drove trucks in the western states for most of his life and then worked for Hewlett Packard from 1980 to 1997.
As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Boise South Stake 14th Ward, he served in various callings throughout his life such as ward missionary and ward scout leader.
Roland greatly enjoyed camping and fishing with his family. He looked forward to returning to Arizona each year to attend family reunions. Visiting with extended family was one of the things that was very important to him.
Later in life, Roland enjoyed exploring the outdoors on his four wheeler. Above all Roland was dedicated to his wife and family. Barbara and Roland did everything together and were rarely separated. Barbara was his strength, his heart, his life.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann; daughter Vonzza Morris (Carl Morris); daughter Rolanda Steffens (Mike Steffens); son Theron Peters; and son Kelvin Peters (Kristen Peters).
He will be greatly missed by 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Surviving siblings include three sisters and four brothers with their families. He will be sorely missed by all.
Roland was preceded in death by his parents, sister Rosalee Reynolds; brother John D. (Buster) Peters; and granddaughter Jazzmin Paige Peters.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 26, at the Boise South Stake, 14th Ward L.D.S. Chapel, Boise. Interment followed the services at the Dry Creek Cemetery.
Services were under direction of the Relyea Funeral Chapel.
