GIVEN, Melissa Caroline (Missy)

The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ June 18, 2007 Melissa Caroline "Missy" Given, 27, died June 1, 2007, at her parents' home in Thatcher following a long-time illness. Missy was born Sept. 25, 1979, at Mt. Graham Hospital in Safford. She graduated from Thatcher High School in 1998 and Northern Arizona University in 2002. She worked as an environmental technician in Moab, Utah, and Prescott, before moving back to Thatcher in Sept. 2006. In recent months, she served as a tutor for the Aspire program at Eastern Arizona College. She was characterized by an extraordinarily gentle spirit and strong will. Melissa is survived by her parents, John and Janice Given; sister and brother-in-law, Casandra and Nick Albert of Glendale; grandmother Caroline Trammell of Springerville; and several dear aunts, uncles and cousins. Memorial service were held at Shepherd of the Valley Presbyterian Church in Safford with burial in Springerville. Arrangements entrusted to McDougal's Caldwell Chapel.
