BUSH, Leaman (Pike)


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ May 17, 2007 Leaman "Pike" Bush was born Sept. 25, 1924, in Hope, N.M., to the late Vine Samuel and Mary A. (Glasscock) Bush. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WWII on the U.S.S. Yorktown. He met his childhood sweetheart, Vivian Rose Brown, and they married Nov. 8, 1946, in Solome. Pike retired as the fire captain after 33 years with the Phoenix Fire Department. Following his retirement he moved to Show Low with his wife. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Pike is survived by his wife, Vivian R. Bush of Linden; two sons, Greg Bush of Olathe, Kan., and Tim (Sue) Bush of Phoenix; daughter Lori Haynes of Linden; six grandchildren and one great-grandson; sisters Mary Evelyn Teague of Hope, N.M., Ruth Rogers of Sunnyslope and Dick Lacy of Phoenix. He was preceded in death by his son, Bobby Bush in 1961; brothers John Bush, Claude Bush, Bruce Bush and Jack Bush; and sister Vina Shill. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday May 19, at the Central Methodist Church located at 1875 N. Central Ave. in Phoenix, with a viewing from 9-10:30 a.m. prior to services at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to RTA Hospice, 1789 W. Commerce Drive, Lakeside, AZ 85929 in his name.
