Florence E. Aldred, Mesa, Arizona, died June 22, 2002 at the age of 96. Florence Eleanor Marquardt was born July 13, 1905 in Huron, SD to Herman J. Marquardt and Amelia H. (Eickler) Marquardt. After attending public schools in Huron, she was employed by Habicht & Habicht Dept. Stores. In 1933, she married Herbert W. Aldred. They owned a neighborhood grocery store in Huron until 1936. At that time they moved to Miller, SD and later to Granite Falls, MN as owners of two clothing stores. Florence was always active in the business. They retired in 1978 and moved to Sunland Village in Mesa, Az. Herbert passed away in 1990. Florence was an active member of the Church of the Master in Mesa. She was a life time member of the Eastern Star and a Past Worthy Matron. At Sunland, she enjoyed the Ceramics Club, Women's Club and the Golf Club, golfing regularly to the age of 91. After Herbert's death, she joined the Sunland Singles Group enjoying their various activities. She loved Sunland and her home, friends and church. She entered the Citadel Care Center in 1998, the Life Care Center of Scottsdale in 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert, her parents, 5 brothers and 6 sisters. Florence is survived by her son, Raymond (Donna) of Scottsdale, 3 grandsons, 2 granddaughters and 6 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
