SEDILLO, David Michael

Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, AZ Thursday, October 07, 2010 David Michael Sedillo, of Winslow, died Oct. 4, 2010. Mr. Sedillo gave 20 years of his life to the city of Winslow, where he retired as police sergeant. He then went on to serve nearly 10 years at Navajo County Probation. All who knew him will remember him sitting on his white bucket at a softball game, rulebook in hand. He coached many kids in the community. He treated every kid on the field as his own. If they needed shoes, pants, bats or even a glove, he bought it. It was as though he adopted them for the season. He took many of his teams to state and was so proud of all of them He coached for over 30 years in Little League, at Winslow High School and for the junior high. His daughters, Marisa and Rita, took up coaching after him and you could always find him at one of their games. He was definitely an outstanding father to his three kids and every other kid he took in. He was a big brother and most loving son to his family. He enjoyed being the best grandpa and uncle to his grandkids, nieces and nephews. He was there anytime, anyplace for all his friends. He would listen and always give the best advice. He did what he could for everyone in his life. Mr. Sedillo is survived by his daughters, Marisa (Leonard) Murray, Rita Sedillo; son Joseph Sedillo; loving father Manfor; brothers Ralph (Sandra) Sedillo, Edward (Rhonda) Sedillo and Rick Sedillo; sisters Sarah Breeze, Lori Young and Charlotte Orozco; six grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Stella "Tafoya" Sedillo; his sister, Alice Sedillo Egbert; and two nephews. Holy rosary will be recited Friday at 7 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. A memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's with celebrant Father Frank Chacon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the David Sedillo Memorial Softball Scholarship at Wells Fargo Bank. Condolences can be sent to www.greersmortuary.com.
