STANDIFIRD, Lorenzo (Jack)


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ October 8, 2010 L. "Jack" Standifird died in his home Oct. 1, 2010. He was born April 1, 1919, in Taylor in the Standifird home on Main Street to Auilla "Quill" Frank Standifird and Eva Hunt. He grew up in Taylor and graduated from Snowflake Academy. After serving in World War II, he worked as a concrete carpenter and helped with road construction and building bridges. He married Leah M. (Hancock) Standifird July 24, 1950 in Phoenix and they were married 44 years. They had one daughter Lana Rothans of Taylor, and a son Edward Milo Webb, nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren Jack was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, a family man and enjoyed being with them. He enjoyed singing and dancing and sang at many weddings and funerals in town. He also enjoyed playing cards with his group of friends, especially UNO. He was the grandson of the first LDS Bishop in Taylor and in Snowflake. Jack was the last of nine children. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Leah who passed away in 1994 and his son Edward Milo Webb. A viewing will be held Friday, Oct. 8, from 6-8 p.m. at Silver Creek Mortuary in Taylor and a viewing Saturday, Oct. 9, at 9 a.m. with the funeral services following at 10 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Stake Center in Taylor.
