Leroy Joseph Polk, Sr., age 67 of San Carlos, Ariz., passed away on Monday, Sept. 27, 2010 at the San Carlos Indian Hospital. He was born in San Carlos on Saturday, Nov. 7, 1942, the son of Nelson and Lydia (Sisto) Polk.
He worked as a maintenance supervisor for San Carlos Indian Hospital. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in June of 1963. He enjoyed being outdoors whenever possible. He likes fishing and hunting. His favorite pass time was driving to Coolidge. Leroy had a wonderful sense of humor and liked to joke around with his family and friends. He was a man who enjoyed life to the fullest. Amongst his friends he was known as “Pastor Leroy” and “Souphat.”
Leroy is survived by his wife Madeline Polk; his sons, Chris (Judy) McIntosh, Sr., Leroy Polk, Jr., and Ramon Polk; his daughters, Consuelo (Anthony) Gooday, Lupita Polk, and Stefanie (Timothy) Dillon; and his sister, Victoria Martin.
A wake will be held on Friday, Oct. 8, 2010 at 4 p.m. at Stefanie Dillon’s residence, Airport 79 in San Carlos.
Funeral services will he held on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Burdett Hall in San Carlos. Interment will follow at San Carlos Veterans Cemetery.
