The Verde Independent, Cottonwood, AZ Saturday, October 9, 2010 George Kappers 1913 - 2010 George Kappers, age 97, of Peoria, AZ, formerly of Cottonwood, AZ, died Tuesday October 5, 2010 at Amethyst Arbor in Peoria. He was born August 19, 1913 in Fillmore Co., MN to Ben and Anna (Goodwinson) Kappers. George attended country school through the eighth grade and was united in marriage to Sabina E. Eggerichs on June 19, 1937 in Lewiston, MN. After their marriage they lived near Peterson, MN. George worked for the Rural Electric Association, REA. They later lived near Cherry Grove, MN where they farmed. George and Sabina moved to Hurley, SD where they purchased and ran the theater. After selling the theater they purchased a grocery store in Sherburne, MN. In 1950 they returned to the Etna area where they farmed until moving into Spring Valley in 1967 when George went to work in construction until retiring to Cottonwood, Arizona in 1975. He is survived by two daughters, Nancy (Jim) Boettcher of Cottonwood, AZ and Joyce (Ruben) Sanchez of Peoria, AZ, 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 60 years, Sabina in 1997, twin grandsons, two brothers; Freddie and Francis and two sisters Doris Riddle and Pearl Funk.
