L. Raymond (Bud) Borden, 83, of Prescott Valley, Ariz., born Oct. 30, 1926, in Allegany, Pa., passed away Sept. 19, 2010.

Raymond Borden (Bud) passed away Sunday, Sept. 19, 2010, at Prescott Valley Samaritan Center after a long illness. He was born in Allegany, Pa., on Oct. 30, 1926, the youngest of seven children.
After graduation from high school, he attended the University of Rochester where he majored in electrical and mechanical engineering. Bud spent his working years at Kodak in Rochester, N.Y., as an optical research engineer developing lenses and optical equipment for cameras used in outer space and government projects. During that period of time, he was an active volunteer. He spent 25 years with the National Ski Patrol, was a Boy Scout leader and later a commissioner, was a paramedic and trainer for the local ambulance corporation. He umpired softball games and other sports for the Kodak leagues. He also spent time boating and fishing with friends, water skiing and camping.
Bud retired from Kodak at 51 and was able to realize his dream of traveling in his RV all over the United States, Canada and Mexico. During his travels, he continued his volunteering with Goodwin, Helping Hands, Neighbor to Neighbor and Hospice.
He leaves behind two daughters; two grandchildren; and his longtime friend of many years.
A memorial service for Bud will be 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 4, 2010, in the chapel at Sunrise Funeral Home, 8167 E. Highway 69, Prescott Valley with a reception to follow at Prescott Valley Samaritan, 3360 Windsong Drive. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Prescott Valley Samaritan in Bud's memory.
