NEILSON, Steve (Geetz)


The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Thursday, September 30, 2010 Steve "Geetz" Neilson passed way at the age of 60 on Sept. 24, 2010, in Prescott, Ariz. A 33-year resident of Prescott, he lived in the Dells. He was born Nov. 30, 1949, in Milwaukee, Wis. He was preceded in death by his parents, George C. and Geneva Neilson, and his wife Linda Lee Neilson. Steve is survived by his two brothers, David Neilson (Robin) and Charles Neilson (Laurie); nieces Kristie Neilson Farnell and Andrea Neilson Schroer; and his Prescott family, Laurie and Rod Morgan. He and his wife Linda were mentors and caregivers to Dustin and Luke Olague. Steve was a valued employee in the Produce Department at Fry's Grocery on Willow Creek and received the 2009 Associate of the Year Award for the chain. He served as chair of the Cultural Council for the store. He will be remembered as an honest, friendly and humble man by his co-workers and many friends. He was always there to help others in fundraising activities and had a heart of gold. Steve operated a sausage wagon under the name of Geetz Romo's. He could often be seen in his lederhosen and bratwurst necklace selling sausages on the street corners in Prescott. For many years, Steve was a dancer and served as chief of the Smoki People. Friends and relatives will celebrate his life with a gathering from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, 2010, at the Smoki. Arrangements are being made by the Heritage Memory Mortuary of Chino Valley.
