JOHNSON, Jack Marshall


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ May 17, 2007 Jack Marshall Johnson, 64, died suddenly on Kolob Mountain in Utah Friday, May 11, 2007. He was born Sept. 10, 1942, in Delta, Utah, to Ivan and Margaret Tippetts Johnson. He married Julie Ann Larson Jan. 31, 1976, in Snowflake, and they were later sealed in the Mesa Arizona Temple for time and all eternity. Jack had a fun and adventurous youth growing up in Hurricane, Utah, where he had many friends. He graduated from Hurricane High and attended Southern Utah Univesrity for a year before leaving to serve a mission for the LDS Church in Southern Calif. He later joined the U.S. Army and served until 1971, where he obtained expert rifleman recognition and was a helicopter crew chief. He worked for many years as a drywaller and had a reputation of excellent workmanship. Jack was currently working for Deseret Laboratories as a construction and maintenance worker. He loved to spend time with his family, fishing, camping and hunting, as well as four-wheeling with his wife and friends. Jack was loved by many and a friend to all he met. He will be greatly missed. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. He is survived by his wife, Julie Ann Larson Johnson of Hurricane, Utah; children Kelli (Rick) Beatty of Hurricane, Utah, Kristi (Paul) Andersen of Roy, Utah, Stephen (Megan) Johnson of Hurricane, Utah, Ty (Paulette) Johnson of Hurricane, Utah, and Trevor (Kim) Johnson of Hurricane, Utah; 17 grandchildren and one on the way; parents Ivan and Margaret Tippetts Johnson of Hurricane, Utah; siblings Dean (Marcia) Johnson of Hurricane, Utah, Joyce (Dennis) Church of Hurricane, Utah, Angie (Tom) Gentry of Logan, Utah, and Coleen (Bret) Sevy of St. George, Utah; sister-in-law Linda Johnson of Hurricane, Utah; brother-in-laws Keith (Susan) Larson of Snowflake and R.H. (Patricia) Larson of Snowflake; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn Ruth McKay Johnson; brother Michael Johnson; father and mother-in-law, H. and Ella Larson; and granddaughter, Paige Elizabeth Johnson. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 17, at 11 a.m. at the Hurricane Stake Center, 650 S. 700 W., Hurricane. Friends may call Wednesday, May 16, from 6-8 p.m. at the Hurricane Valley Mortuary, 140 N. Main, and again Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the Stake Center. Interment will take place at the Hurricane City Cemetery. Arrangements are made under the direction of Spilsbury Mortuary, St. George, Utah.
