Russell "Bud" Weniger, 87, of Lakeside, died Wednesday, April 11, 2007, at home.
Bud was born Dec. 30, 1919, at Wichita, Kan., the son of George and Martha Weniger. He was raised and attended school in Topeka. After graduating high school, he attended Friends University in Kansas. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He married Elizabeth Kavarnik in Phoenix. They lived in Phoenix for a number of years, where he worked as a carpenter. He came to Lakeside in the early 1970's, working as a carpenter. He was a member of the Living Church and served on the board for many years. In his earlier life he was a singer, musician and playwright. He was a very talented person, with many hobbies including photography, drawing horses and architecture.
Survivors include two sons, Marjoe Weniger and Jason (Karey) Weniger of Lakeside; three stepdaughters Renae (Steve) Cannon of Phoenix, Pamela (Terry) Nordell of Chandler and Susan (Richard) Burnham of Paradise Valley; brother Paul Weniger of Kan.; 15 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and brother Robert.
Funeral services will be held at noon, Tuesday, April 17, at Living Church in Lakeside with Pastor Richard Boen officiating. Burial will be held at Lakeside Cemetery.
