The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ April 16, 2007 William "Bill" Craig, 74, of Show Low died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007. Bill was raised and attended school in Tucson. He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1951, serving in Korea and Greenland. He was married to Ina Russell Feb. 7, 1954, in Lordsburg, N.M. He lived in Tucson, Independence, Mo., and Santa Clara, Calif., working as an engineer for AT&T. He retired in 1987 and came to Show Low. Bill was an avid ham radio operator and enjoyed his computer, crossword puzzles and traveling in their motor home and, later, cruises around the world. Bill was a member of the White Mountain United Methodist Church; the Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks, Show Low Lodge 2090, where he served as Exalted Ruler in 1977-78 and worked with and was chairman of the Elks Veterans Committee; the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Show Low Post 9907; and the American Legion of the White Mountains, Post 76. Bill is survived by his wife, Ina; two daughters, Denise (Pat) Durket and Jeannette (Jason) Lee, both of Priest River, Idaho; son Michael (Anna) Craig of Tracy, Calif.; two sisters, Betty Burns of Wheaton, Mo., and Violet Fry of Oregon; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 21, at the Show Low Elks Lodge No. 2090.
